The IMS Photo Contest

The IMS Photo Contest was founded in 2009 as a side event of the International Mountain Summit.

Over the last six years, more than 12,000 photographers have made the IMS Photo Contest the most important contest of mountain photography worldwide. In order to encourage photographic performances and photo culture the IMS Photo Contest has become an event of ist own and is starting over with a refreshing design and convenient functionality of the new website.

IMS

The International Mountain Summit (IMS) brings together mountain lovers from all over the world. Brixen, the door to the South Tyrolean Dolomites, becomes the place where a growing network of people of all ages with a shared passion and enthusiasm for mountains meets.

Meet.Mountain.People.Soul is the core idea of this mountain experience festival. IMS guests meet the mountain by hiking, climbing, biking or other outdoor adventure tours. They also meet people who are living in, or loving, the mountains. And last but not least, they meet the soul of the mountains and of themselves - their inner mountain that needs to be conquered. The IMS experience thus becomes an adventure trip for body, heart and soul.

Staff

Welcome to the Team.

We connect people through our passion for mountain photography and encourage them to improve their photographic performances.

Der Atem der Berge

The Spirit of the Mountains

The fact that the IMS is not only attended by alpinists but also by photographers from all over the world has caught the interest of several publishing houses. In 2015, the first edition of the photo book “Der Atem der Berge” was launched in order to show the beauty as well as the risks of the world of mountains to a lager public. In 2016, the French edition followed and the book received the ITB Book Award for the best tourism illustrated book at the leading Travel Trade Show in Berlin. The third German edition was published earlier this year and an English edition will follow in October.

The real protagonists are however the photographers of all continents. They capture breathtaking moments with their cameras from every possible perspective. They entrust their emotions, memories and their experience to us. Although they compete among each other and are judged by the jury, they also see the bigger picture: through them, the IMS Photo Contest has become proof of the important part of photography in mountain culture and in the protection of this unique space of experience and adventure.

Exhibitions

A selection of the best pictures submitted to the IMS Photo Contest will be exhibited at the “Mountain Photo of the Year” exhibition. The photos will be presented as big prints in the public spaces of Brixen/Bressanone, and digitally on flat screens of our partners across the world.

The exact dates and venues will be published here and on our social media channels.

Partner

A project like this would not be possible without the commitment of various supporters.

Charity

Charity projects have always been a big part of the International Mountain Summit and the same is true for the IMS Photo Contest.

The category Team Spirit is a charity category. The net receipts of the administation fee for uploading photos into this category will be used to support the charity Laureus. By submitting your photo, you will be directly contributing to the success of "Schneetiger".
